Plan your own detour with Google Maps.
June 30th, 2007Have you ever tried using a mapping website only to become frustrated with the directions it provides? The directions run you through a road you know is blocked or extremely busy at rush hour. Have you ever wished you could just move the driving route from one road to another?
Problem Solved: Google recently release of a new feature to its Google Maps website that does just that, allows you to modify the driving directions by dragging and dropping the driving route and choose the roads you want!
First, enter your start address and destination address into the Google Maps website and let Google give you their suggested directions with the route drawn out on a map. Next just drag and drop sections of the blue route line from one road to another so you can adjust the route and cover the path you want! The driving directions are instantly updated to account for your changes. Using this feature along with the built in current traffic conditions can help you avoid especially troublesome areas.
