About Scott

EDUCATION

Scott, born 1982 in Warren MI, graduated High School May 2000 and began college at Michigan State University; (MSU) as an undeclared major. He began studying Computer Engineering late into his Sophomore year with a focus in hardware and software. May 2004 he graduated from the college of engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. Scott has always been happy with his decision to go to MSU and it will remain one of the best experiences he has ever had.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Hired by Lockheed Martin as a Software Engineer the summer of 2004, Scott packed up and moved to Fairfax, VA on July 10th, 2004. His title has since changed to Systems Integration and Test Engineer and he now lives in Arlington, VA, however the position has remained the same.

HOBBIES

Photography
Scott has always enjoyed photos, but it wasn’t until about one year ago that he really started taking up Photography as a hobby. He currently owns 3 digital cameras:

  • 2MP Kodak point and shoot from 2002
  • 5MP HP 10x superzoom from 2005
  • 10MP Canon DSLR with Canon EFS 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS lens from 2007

A collection of his photos can be found here: SG Photography

Mountain Biking
Shortly after moving to Virginia Scott met a few guys involved with mountain biking. After hearing about all the trails in the area he bought a Orange and Metallic Charcoal 2005 Trek 4300 Mountain Bike. He loves riding the hilly trails as the logs, rocks, mud and close trees create fun yet tough workouts. He also enjoys the occasional 20-30 mile trip on a paved path which may some day lead to the purchase of a road bike.

Hiking
Scott loves to get out and hike the local trails throughout Northern Virginia. The fresh air, wild animals, colorful flowers, interesting insects, flowing water and the occasional waterfall make for a perfect getaway from life in the busy suburbs of Washington DC. Some of his favorite locations are Scott’s Run, Difficult Run and the Cross County Trail in Virginia and the C&O canal tow path in Maryland.

Web Design
Scott began dabbling in Web design sometime around the Summer of 2001. The first website was created with Microsoft FrontPage and was used as a destination for uploading photos of him and his friends hanging out. Scott now uses hand coded HTML, XHTML, CSS with a little Javascript and AJAX to create sites like ComputersConfuseMe.com and SG Photography.
